Two apps: one on your Mac, one on your tablet. You download the Mac app from this site; the tablet app is offered as an open test on Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. Then you plug in a USB cable, or open both on the same Wi-Fi network.
On the Mac side, macOS 15 or later on an Apple Silicon (M-series) Mac. On the tablet side, Android 8.0 or later, or a HarmonyOS version that runs Android apps, with a hardware HEVC video decoder (most devices from 2016 onward have one). A Windows version is in development.
No. The USB connection is made over AOA (Android Open Accessory); plugging in the cable is enough. There are no Developer Options to turn on and no ADB to install on the computer.
For video, fast scrolling and continuous motion the cable is the smoothest path. For reading documents, writing code and everyday use Wi-Fi is perfectly smooth; the best result comes with the Mac on Ethernet and both sides on a Wi-Fi 6 network.
It does. If you prefer, you can turn on the “Wi-Fi only” preference so the cable just charges while the picture comes over Wi-Fi.
Yes. With a folio or external touchpad the pointer and scrolling land one-to-one and trackpad gestures flow continuously (Spaces, Mission Control). Keyboard keys map straight onto the Mac; with no physical keyboard the on-screen one opens and its keycaps are drawn from the Mac’s active layout. You can also touch the screen directly or work with a pen.
Yes — the pointer follows the pen while it hovers, and pressure, tilt, eraser tip and barrel button (right click) are supported. Palm rejection lets you rest your hand on the glass while you write. Details: working with a pen.
Yes. Each tablet appears in macOS as its own audio output device; you route sound there and can set the level from the tablet as well. Details: how audio reaches the tablet.
No. The tablet is presented to macOS as a virtual display, so it stays outside the external monitor limit. On a MacBook that supports a single monitor it is added as an extra screen even while that monitor is plugged in. Details: how the tablet becomes a Mac display.
Yes. Several tablets attach to the same Mac and wired and wireless can be mixed. Each tablet is an independent display and its preferences stay saved on that device.
The stream keeps running. You wake it from the tablet and carry on where you left off; this is also how headless Mac mini and Studio setups work.
Yes. The stream comes up while the tablet is on mobile data or another Wi-Fi: traffic flows through your own Tailscale account’s end-to-end encrypted tunnel, and it is all done from inside the app. Smoothness depends on the internet link in between. For the setup and the security details: how remote access works.
Codeyzer Screen collects no personal data: no account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking SDK. Picture, sound and control input flow only between your Mac and your tablet. The details are in the privacy policy.
The app is open to everyone and free to install while the test runs, but it is still under active development and we say so plainly. If you hit a rough edge, write to support@codeyzer.com — feedback goes straight into the next release.
It is free during the open test. We plan a paid version in later releases, and we will announce that ahead of time before any pricing takes effect.
Right now the tablet side is for Android and for HarmonyOS versions that run Android apps. On the computer side a Windows version is in development and will appear in the download section once it is ready.
The Mac app was scanned by Apple for malicious software and no malicious content was found (notarization). Updates arrive from inside the app.
